First off Anthony graduated from PT, she says he is doing great. He is no longer limping. He walks funny from being a toe walker he is over compensating now and is a heel walker lol... He still needs to learn to jump and will probably get a small exercise trampoline as a present after we move.
Now on to the good stuffs!
I got Anthonys 6 week assessment from school today and he has improved greatly!!!
categories that have stayed the same:
*recognizing familiar objects - level 1
*notice an item that is different in many respects from a group level 1
*use gestures or sounds to communicate - 1
*use single word or approximations to communicate - 2 (2/12) he scored a 3 and improved on 4/1 to 2
*sort objects by one property such as size, shape, color, or use - 4
*use two word phrases - 4
*use simple sentences (3-4 words) to express wants and needs - 4
*work/play cooperatively with one other child - 4
1 means mastered
2 means continued-satisfactory progress
3 means continued-minimal progress
4 means not yet introduced (or that he doesn't do it)
Categories he has improved in:
*group similar kinds of objects together went from 4 to 2
*take an interest in other children at play 2 to 1
*play comfortably alongside another child 4 to 1!!!!
*imitate what other children are doing, interacting occasionally 4 to 2
I have noticed the interacting at home with ryan. Where as they have always played together. Anthony now tries to get Ry to do things. Always saying "come here baby" "lets go play baby". We always just called Ry baby, cause Anthony didnt know what a name was. Now he does and we are trying to get him to call him Ryan instead of Baby. It's not happening that fast lol..
He also got a Pre-Kindergarten Certificate from school!
and some teachers notes are from his progress and planning report:
Social/emotional:
Anthony is able to treat arrival and departure as routine parts of the day
Physical:
Anthony shows good balance while moving and is able to walk in a line independently, perform simple manipulations, experiments with writing/drawing utensils
Cognitive:
Anthony demonstrates the ability to
-understand what comes next in daily schedule
-follow positional directions modeled by adult
-repeat simple patterns modeled by adult
Language:
Anthony is able to:
-follow one step oral directions when given cues
-answer simple yes/no questions verbally
-recognize logos and pictures
Family comments and Observations
I have really enjoyed having anthony in my class this year! His positive attitude and willingness to learn are great assets!
Anthony has started saying "um" when i ask him something. although this is really cute, it is very annoying! I'll ask him what he wants for dinner, and he says um so many times he forgot what i asked him!!!
He is doing good in potty training too. Better at school than home. He does it independently at school with maybe 1 accident a week. He'll pull his own pants down and up. At home not so much. he acts like he cant get them up, grunting and such. i know he's just playing, this summer will be interesting!!!
I am starting to understand more of anthonys gibberish. He's just talking to fast and the words run together. once he slows down a bit we'll understand more.
And Ry has started talking more too. He still grunts and groans mostly. But he gets frustrated when i dont understand him and waits for me to get it. It's so strange Anthony never got/gets frustrated. He just kinda walks off. Having a typical toddler after a special needs toddler is like learning all over again! I am enjoying it!
School gets out this friday, and the pool opens this weekend. its only a few houses down from us. So we will probably be going there a few times a week to get out. I am also going to take them to story hour on Thursday at the library.
We have a busy month ahead of us. We move to Florida in 5 weeks on July 1. We all have weekend plans june 4-6 that will take josh to dallas and the boys and i to okc. Then on the 7th we are going to florida to find a house. And be home the 11th. then we leave 3 weeks later!
depending on when the house closes and we get our belongings down there will be huge!! hopefully close before we move so we arnt in transition too long.
Then my mom flies down the 20th and we are headed back to mt (driving) on the 25th to go to my class reunion. The boys and i will be there till the 6th. When mom will drive back with us, we will get back to fl on the 8th and Anthony will go to school on the 9th (monday) He will have already missed 2 days! We are looking into an area called Crestview. its about 10 miles or so from Eglin, but its a nice place not too big not too small and only 30 minutes from fort walton beach.
Oh mom will fly out on the 10th back to MT. Its gonna be a busy/short summer!
