Looks like Anthony has another journey to follow

Well on Thursday February 11th, Anthony tripped over a ball at school and fell wrong. Breaking the femur in his left leg. They call it a green stick fracture. You know when a tree has new green branches that bend but dont necessarily break and cause a sprial fracture. well that's what Anthony has. We don't know exactly where in his femur the fracture is, havn't seen the xray and dr.s didnt tell us. We also forgot to ask, so much going on.

well the school called me at 130 and i went and he wouldnt unbend his left leg. and just cried and cried. Of course with his Autism we couldn't ask him what was wrong, well we could. But he wouldn't tell us. So it's all a mystery really.  I called the base clinic to try to get him in. And they were closing since it was snowing. So they sent me to the "call a nurse line" and a nurse called me back a few minutes later. She gave us the referral to urgent care. I took him to Clinics of North Texas. the wait is shorter than the hospital ER.

They did x-rays and determined he did have a fracture. After what seemed like minutes what was really hours, the EMT came and started an IV and trasferred him to a back board for the transferr via ambulance to United Reginal at 4. Time was going really fast. Anthony caught cat naps here and there. When he wasn't being bothered. At the ER we basically waited for a room for 3 hours. About 7 they moved us up to pediatrics for the night. When he was trying to fall asleep the spasms started and woke him up literally every few minutes. i made sure he got morphine every four hours when he was supposed to.

Friday morning we got confirmation that we were going to Fort Worth to Cook Childrens Medical Center. at 230 they told us that he was going to be moved via ambulance to Fort Worth between 430 and 5. My friend Whitney, Ryan and I followed the ambulance (or we tried, he was a crazy driver lol) to cooks. Got there about 730, got anthony settled and all registered. Josh stayed with him, while we went and got a room to sleep.

We kept getting mixed answers as to what treatment anthony would get. cast, no cast, surgery, no surgery. not a clue! We really didn't know till Saturday night when a ped dr. finally looked at him. We were told he was getting a spica cast. I broke down in tears. (I read a jodi picoult book about a girl in one) My little boy wasn't gonna be able to move! Well casting time was scheduled for 11 am on Saturday (My baby Ryan's 2nd bday btw). He really didnt get started till noon. Everyone runs late lol. and he was done about 230. We didnt know till we saw him if there would be a bar between his knees to hold his legs apart. Thankfully there wasn't!

His teacher aide came to see him in the hosp. and brought him his valentines and some cars. (That he loves!) and saw him for a few minutes. He was still really out of it. Just crying, trying to sleep, and whining.
Saturday night he finally started smiling and talking again. yay!

We thought we would get to go home on Sunday but no such luck. His sodium kept dropping and if it drops too much he could have seizures. so they kept us. Thankfully that night his sodium returned to normal so we were able to go home on Monday! yay! They gave us a modified Britax Regent carseat to keep, he fits it quite nicely.

it is rought, he isnt talking much. and just whines at me. I never know what he wants and just have to guess till i get it right. i am working on taking pictures of every day things (his juice cup, bfast, lunch, dinner, toys, etc) and i am gonna make a picture board for him, so he can point and tell me and hopefully eventually stop using the board and he can just tell me what he wants.

I am also gonna try to take him to school next week. at least once to see how it will go. He is stuck in this for 4-6 weeks. he really needs to stay on his schedule and get out of the house. We got a wheel chair so he can just sit in it and get his socialization.

we have a follow up in ft worth next week sometime to see how he is healing. hopefully he heals fast and can get out of that thing soon!
As for right now, we are just getting by. i am sitting with him a lot to keep him company. he likes to be held. which cuts off the circulation to my legs. but makes him happy at least.
his grandma is looking into a bean bag chair and a great aunt is getting him a wagon and some goodies to keep him occupied.
we are forever grateful as its gonna be a long 4-6 weeks. for my active little boy!
